The Refusal Retreat: register your interest
The Refusal Retreat is a decolonial feminist travel retreat for women and non-binary people who refuse to look away. Four destinations, each chosen for its political story: Nicaragua, Edinburgh, Taiwan and Bogotá. Small groups. Women and non-binary people who already bring a feminist and anti-colonial understanding and want to deepen their analysis and their practice, together, in places that teach.
I want community again. I want to share travel with women and non-binary people who bring a feminist and anti-colonial understanding, without constantly defending our convictions or explaining systemic oppression. We can enjoy ourselves, laugh, rest and be together without every conversation becoming political. When we explore, we ask whose labour built a place, whose stories are missing and how people have resisted. I want us to learn from local women and community groups about their work and solidarity. The Refusal Retreat is that community on the road: political education, conversations, beauty and spaciousness, together.
How it works: You register your interest here. You will receive full information about destinations, dates and terms before any booking opens. Before anyone books, we have a conversation, so you know exactly what you are joining and I know the fit is right. I'll share retreat details as they become available.
What the retreat holds, in every destination: Place learning, reading the political story of a place: its colonial histories, its movements, its refusals. Conversations that deepen analysis and turn it into practice. Beauty as method, not decoration. Space together: rest, spaciousness, connection.
You're also invited to explore the Women Who Refuse community, where women and non-binary people connect around feminism, anti-colonialism, advocacy, activism and resistance. You don't need to attend a retreat to belong.
About the work: We learn how to read a place, deepen our political understanding and practise refusal together. Rest, beauty and spaciousness are part of how we do that work.
Fine print: Registering interest requires no payment. Full details and booking conditions will be provided before you decide whether to book.
