Manifesto to working with Darlene:
Are you an activist.
You use your voice to support historically underrepresented people and groups.
You see the world from a macro perspective as well as from a micro perspective.
You believe in a free Palestine.
You believe in a free Congo.
You believe in a free Sudan.
You are not in support of Israel’s genocide against Palestine.
You are not a nationalist.
You believe women should have complete autonomy over their bodies without interference.
You believe men should be responsible for birth control.
You don’t use words such as bitch, ho, slut, whore, gold digger, aggressive, angry, cunt, etc. when referring to women you’re criticizing or women you don’t like.
You don’t say “not all men”.
You don’t pat men on that back for basic duties such as going to work, making the bed, putting a dish away, or taking the kids to soccer practice.
You believe women.
You believe in paying women for their emotional labour.
You believe Black Lives Matter.
You don’t believe in the All Lives Matter movement.
You don’t believe in the Blue Lives Matter movement.
You vote.
You don’t vote conservative.
You don’t make excuses for conservative outlooks.
You know that cutting social programming is not the way to save the economy.
You have a critical analysis of the media.
You have a critical analysis of just about everything.
You don’t use religion to discriminate against others.
You don’t use religion to manipulate others.
You don’t believe drag queens are a danger to children.
You believe in gender neutral bathrooms.
You know gender is a social construct.
You support all people in the LGBTQ+ acronym.
You understand that colonial patriarchy is the root of the majority of the worlds problems.
You do not believe that reverse racism exists.
You do not believe women can be sexist towards men.
You don’t believe that Black on Black crime is what’s holding Black communities in America back.
When you talk to a customer service representative with an accent that is different from your own, you are not annoyed and do not wish or ask to speak to someone you “can understand” or someone who “speaks English” even though they’re speaking English.
When you travel, you do not expect that everyone you encounter should speak English.
When you travel, you try to learn a few words in the language(s) of the area(s) you’re visiting.
You do not wish, want, or tell immigrants, black, or brown people to “go back to their own country”.
You understand that borders are a made-up social construct.
You know which lands that Indigenous Peoples are native to.
You do not discriminate against Indigenous Peoples.
You follow anti-oppressive principles.
You are aware of the space you are in and share it with others.
